The guild pages on Wowtrack have been expanded over the past weeks. First, a patch history section has been added:
The patch history shows the overall performance of a guild over the game patches. This information was available previously by browsing the patches using the patch drop-down located in the top-right corner. I hope you agree that the compact patch history table is neater.
Second, as guilds change realm using the Guild Master Realm Transfer procedure, their guild history is now displayed on the guild page:
The guild history is only shown for guilds with at least one recorded transfer. This way of handling guild transfers ensures that past performance and current ranking details remain with a guild on Wowtrack even if not all members transfer immediately. You can see this feature in action by browsing the newly opened EU Italian language realms where a lot guilds are transferring to at this time.
For a long time, Wowtrack has offered a personalized news feature, including push notifications. This feature has now been expanded to offer a contextual news flash shown on the right-hand side of the home page (world news), realm pages, guild pages, and character pages. From each news flash, you can switch to a full-sized news page that also provides an RSS feed for subscription.
The personalized news page based on your favorite guilds and characters continues to be accessible by clicking the News tab. However, we have stopped the direct integration of Boxcar push notifications. Users of Boxcar (or any other push notification service) can now subscribe to any RSS feed offered by Wowtrack, which ultimately is a more flexible solution.
As an external push notification or reader service must be able to access your personalized RSS feed without logging in, your feed is protected by an API key that is part of the feed URL. If you believe that your API key has been compromised, you can regenerate it at any time on your Profile page.
Last but not least, news items now provide an improved sharing tooltip allowing you to share news on the three popular social networks shown below:
Transition into Mists of Pandaria
On Monday, 17.09.2012, 12:00 CEST, Wowtrack will begin to update character encounter progress again. As posted earlier, we had to disable this function as achievements became account-wide. While the solution we have in place now is not as accurate time-wise as the one based on achievements, I hope you will agree that having an approximate update is better than no update at all. Guild encounter progress will remain based on loot.
On Monday, 24.09.2012, 12:00 CEST, Wowtrack will switch over to Mists of Pandaria. At that point, Cataclysm patches will become inactive, and no further progress updates for this content will be recorded by Wowtrack. Please be sure to manually update your character or guild before this point in case you have made any progress you want to be recorded on Wowtrack.
On Monday, 01.10.2012, 12:00 CEST, Wowtrack will switch its default patch to Mists of Pandaria. The default guild ranking will be Mists of Pandaria content, and guild rosters will only display level 90 characters. Character updating will focus on level 90 characters, and Wowtrack will not pick up new characters below that level.
